Like Jesus
Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also in yours Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 2:5
We are called by Paul to follow the same footsteps of Jesus Christ. That is to say carry the same attitude, same values, same virtues and be formed just like him. And one of the things that would be highly associated to Jesus Christ is his love towards those that are hard to love.
In the gospel today, we are called to love not just those who we can easily love but also those that we find hard to love. As the gospel continues, it attest more on this instruction by telling us that the sun shines on both the good and the bad. The rain pours on the just and the unjust. So TRUE indeed.
I'd like to relive what the priest said in his sermon, we should not limit ourselves of this instruction to love around people. We should also consider other aspects as well. Perhaps, in our studies. As a student, every once in a while we sometimes get to have our fave subject and our least fave one. But what the Lord wants us to do is to love all of these things. We need to understand that God is using all of these things for his glory. That somewhere in our very struggle to love those that we find hard to love, we can hear God saying his very message to us.
Our very marked as a Christian is Jesus. Like Paul said many years ago, we must be like Jesus. Therefore, let us put on Christ's virtues and characters in our lives. Let us be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Lord we pray to always find you in every circumstances and in every places in our lives. So that Lord, we may be able to slowly, bit by bit, learn and live your ways and your characters. And in time, be perfected with humility and in your love. Amen.God bless!
